Are JavaScript and/or Cookies required to access audio?
Many features on NPR.org, including the NPR Media Player, require JavaScript to be enabled to function properly. NPR.org also uses browser “cookies” to store information according to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. We also use a technology called "Flash Shared Objects" to maintain your playlist for short periods of time for convenience if you close your player window.
Your browser should have Javascript enabled by default. However, if you wish to check, we are happy to tell you how.
PC users:
Firefox - select 'Options' from the browser's 'Tools' menu, choose 'Content,' and make sure that JavaScript and Java are enabled.
Internet Explorer - find 'Internet Options' in your browser menus (which specific menu varies from version-to-version), choose 'Advanced,' and make sure that JavaScript and Java are enabled.
Mac users:
Firefox - select 'Preferences...' from the 'Firefox' menu, choose 'Content,' and make sure that JavaScript and Java are enabled.
Safari - select 'Preferences...' from the 'Safar' menu, choose 'Security,' and make sure that JavaScript and Java are enabled.
